the bravest thing
to be is you.

Logline:

One human girl, her nanotech friend, and a world that forgot the truth.
In a world ruled by evolved household pets, where humans are an endangered, inferior species, one human girl hops into the adventure of a lifetime to save her family and right the wrongs of the past.

Tone & Tenor

Alphas is an epic coming-of-age adventure story that’s Ghibli meets The Goonies. It blends relatable and authentic characters with a whimsical, high-stakes quest set in a Solar Punk world, unlike anything we’ve seen on screen.

While the action and set pieces are breathtaking, the heart of Alphas is rooted in universal themes of identity, belonging, and found family, making this otherworldly adventure resonate in a deeply personal way.

500 years in the future...

The world of Alphas is our Earth today, only 500 years in the future. Alphas have rebuilt society in a solar-punk image. The look blends organic materials (timber, clay, copper, and living green) with carefully permitted, futuristic tech. Think sustainable communal living, fully automated infrastructure, sprawling natural landscapes, dotted with AI windmills and self-driving drones.

Knowledge is the rarest commodity, and inventions don’t “go viral.”  Every new device is rigorously reviewed by scientists for its impact to land, water, and all species. Most ideas never make it past approval.

There are no cell phones and no consumer drones. Communication happens via shared household and public video phones. Travel is mostly public transit or solar-powered bikes/scooters. Convenience never outranks community or ecology.

500 years
in the future...

Humans are now an endangered species, and highly evolved animals, the self-proclaimed Alphas, have rebuilt the world in their image.

Alpha society is divided into four dominant species: Leps (bunnies), Cricks (hamsters), Canians (dogs), and Felians (cats).

Across the planet, thriving cities have emerged. There’s Rasa, the pristine capital; Aki, a secluded, Lep, farm town; Golden Junction, a bustling marketplace; Indigo Forest, a tranquil Felian kingdom; and Taiyo, a free-spirited metropolis.

On the surface, the world appears transformed for the better. Climate change has been completely reversed, war and famine are mere remnants of the past, and the planet is healthier, and more equitable than it has been for centuries. There are no cell phones, products don’t go “viral.” In fact, every innovation is rigorously tested for its environmental impact. Convenience never outranks community or ecology.

But for humans, life is far from perfect. The average human lifespan has been drastically reduced to 32 years, and their history has been completely rewritten. In Alpha mythology, humans are painted as greedy, self-serving, inferior creatures who deserve their fate, while Alphas are celebrated as the superior, rightful inheritors of the world.

The Story

Every big adventure starts with
a small step, or rather, a hop.

Chapter 1:

Our Hero

Bee is a well-loved 12-year-old human girl, raised in the peaceful town of Aki by her adoptive Lep family, Uncle Rex and Nana Dewey. Though deeply cared for, she’s always felt different. More than anything, she dreams of becoming a Lep, just like her friends and family, and finally feeling “normal.”

Chapter 2

Her Nanotech Watch

Bee doesn’t know it yet, but she carries a secret. When she was a toddler, she touched an ancient artifact that bonded to her wrist: Bomie. For years, Bomie has remained dormant, telling time and functioning as nothing more than an ordinary wristwatch…until today.

Chapter 3

The Raid

When Frost, an Alpha official determined to keep humans down, arrives in Aki searching for hidden humans, Bomie suddenly activates. In a flash, Bee is transformed into the one thing she’s always dreamed of being, a Lep! But the magic doesn’t last. When Bee is revealed as a human, Frost and his goons give chase. Bee narrowly escapes, but Uncle Rex is taken in her place.

Chapter 4

The Adventure

Determined to save Uncle Rex, Bee and Bomie set off on an epic journey to bring him home. Along the way, they gather an unexpected group of allies: Jun, a brave and loyal Crick who longs to be a hero; Que, a brilliant, resourceful human boy; and Grishma, a rebellious Felian princess who wants more than a royal life. These misfits become a found family, bound by courage, adventure, and a shared hope for a better world.

Together, they fly across the Alpha world in a repurposed air tractor called Project Airborne, exploring new cultures, street foods, and customs. They take on daring challenges, from playing the retro-futuristic strategy game of Ch’set, to ultimately pulling off an Ocean’s Eleven-style heist. They retrieve hidden data gems to recover Bomie’s lost memory, infiltrate an elite scientific institution, evade double agents, and encounter a revolutionary human enclave known as The Ashen Grove.

Chapter 5

A New Beginning

As the journey unfolds, Bee uncovers long-hidden family secrets and gains a deeper understanding of who she is. With every challenge, she learns what it means to be human and how to stand up in a world that tells her to stay small. By the time Bee reaches Uncle Rex, she’s changed forever. And as Bomie’s true power comes to light, the world is about to change in ways no one ever saw coming.

Prequel

In 2030, a brilliant scientist develops a radical gene therapy that allows her to communicate with household pets. The therapy enables the animals to think, feel, and express themselves. When a lab explosion releases the viral DNA into the world, household pets begin to evolve, gaining intelligence and power beyond imagination.

500 years later, humans are an endangered, inferior species, and highly evolved animals, the self-proclaimed Alphas, rule. The truth that Alpha evolution was sparked by humans has been erased from history. Only one ancient artifact remembers the truth: a nanotech wristwatch named Bomie.

Aki

Bee’s hometown, Aki is a secluded Lep town that’s intentionally hard to reach. Designed as a peaceful, self-sustaining, farm community, it lives by a simple belief: “What is in you is in me."

Golden Junction

Jun’s hometown, Golden Junction is a bustling trading hub that moves with clockwork precision. It is home to the central mail hub, Jun’s long-running family business, where his family works as postal workers. Everything passes through here, including goods, secrets, and even banned human relics.

Indigo Forest

Grishma’s hometown, the Indigo Forest is nestled among gigantic blue-green trees that rise like redwoods. This zen-like Felian kingdom values balance, stewardship of the land, and a ritual-filled way of life. Beneath its serene surface lies a quiet tension of ambition.

Rasa

Frost’s hometown and domain of influence, Rasa is the polished capital of Alpha civilization. Built as a shining symbol of Alpha power and order, it is a city of beauty, control, and carefully curated appearances. Dissent, here, is often managed behind closed doors.

Taiyo

Que’s hometown, Taiyo is a neon-lit metropolis built by outsiders and creatives. Humans and Alphas coexist here, buzzing with art, energy, and possibility.

Long-Term
Series Vision

By the end of Season 1, Bee succeeds in reuniting with Uncle Rex, but at a devastating cost. She loses Bomie to Frost, and with her beloved companion gone, she also loses the ability to disguise herself as a Lep. Bomie’s true power, in the wrong hands, or shall we say, paws, poses a dangerous threat to an already vulnerable humanity. Without Bomie, Bee begins forming friendships with other humans, especially kids her own age. For the first time, she witnesses the full cost of Alpha rule on humans, and it changes how she sees herself and the world. Fueled by a growing fire to protect her friends, Bee chooses to fight back. With the help of her found family, she sets out to challenge Frost’s rule, reclaim Bomie, and change the world for good.

A Note from the Creator:

From age 3 to 8, I was the only Asian kid in my class in Pittsburgh. When my family moved back to Korea, I didn’t quite fit there, either. Always somewhere in between. That feeling, of being in a world that doesn’t quite see you, is the heart of Alphas.

Bee’s story isn’t mine exactly, but her quiet questions and stubborn heart are. Her journey reflects something I’ve spent a lifetime learning: that identity is layered, belonging is an inside job, and sometimes the smallest voice carries the most truth.

Alphas is born from that tender place, but it is built for joy. It is a 'cozy adventure' designed as a sanctuary - a place of humor, heart, and wonder that audiences will want to return to again and again. It’s the story I wish I’d had when I was younger, and the one I still need today. Thank you for seeing this world. I would be honored to build it with you.
